Grapeland TX Real Estate, Grapeland TX Area and Community Information

Grapeland, Texas, is a community of about 1,600 people in Houston County. The county, named after Sam Houston, was the very first one created in the Republic of Texas in 1837. The area of the Texas piney woods was first settled in the early 1800s. Early pioneers traveling on the Old San Antonio Road would often stop for food and supplies. Lumber mills flourished in the area throughout most of the 19th century.
